Our Puffin Rating

🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

5 out of 5 Puffins β€” our highest rating. The Lost Yeti is one of the most adventurous and exciting kitchens in Guernsey. Fresh seafood, vibrant small plates and bold mains inspired by Himalayan roots and global travel β€” this is food that takes you somewhere. An essential visit.

Our review

There's a certain kind of restaurant that earns its reputation not through fanfare but through consistency β€” and The Lost Yeti is exactly that. Tucked right by the seafront on North Plantation, it's the kind of place you walk past and think looks interesting, then walk in and immediately understand why it's full.

The concept is straightforward and executed with real conviction: fresh seafood, vibrant small plates and bold signature mains inspired by Himalayan roots and shaped by a kitchen that's clearly travelled widely and eaten well. Everything on the plate feels considered. Nothing feels like it's been sitting around. That's because it hasn't β€” the kitchen works with the freshest ingredients, prepared on the day, and it shows in every dish.

The menu moves between fresh seafood, sharing plates and more substantial mains with enough range to keep a table of mixed tastes happy. The flavours are confident without being aggressive β€” bold where they need to be, delicate where that serves the ingredient better. It's the kind of food that makes you order more than you planned.

The location is a genuine asset. Sitting right by the seafront, there's an easy, breezy energy to the place that suits the food well. The staff carry that same warmth β€” friendly, genuinely attentive, and clearly invested in making sure you have a good time. It's the kind of service that doesn't draw attention to itself but makes everything feel effortless.

Lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday. Book ahead β€” The Lost Yeti has built a loyal following fast, and for good reason.

Our Puffin Rating

🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

5 out of 5 Puffins β€” our highest rating. Mint56 is one of St Peter Port's most characterful and consistent restaurants. Handcrafted food using local Guernsey ingredients, an exceptional wine list, and a full cocktail bar β€” this is proper evening dining done with genuine care.

Our review

Some restaurants announce themselves loudly. Mint56 doesn't need to. Step inside and the tone is set immediately β€” a charming, cosy interior that feels genuinely looked after, warm without trying too hard, and the kind of place where you settle in quickly and stop thinking about anywhere else.

The menu covers serious ground without being overwhelming. From classic French-leaning starters to confident mains β€” think swordfish loin with samphire, roast rump of lamb, and a Guernsey bean jar that's as local as it gets β€” the kitchen clearly takes its sourcing seriously. Fresh produce, well-handled. The attention to detail on the plate is evident throughout, and the variety means there's something for everyone at the table without it ever feeling like a menu that's spread itself too thin.

The drinks list is equally considered. A wine list that spans four continents β€” from Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc to Georgian Saperavi β€” alongside a solid cocktail menu and a full bar. This is a place that takes what's in your glass as seriously as what's on your plate.

The staff make it. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food β€” the kind of service that feels effortless because it's rooted in actually caring. That combination of a warm room, great produce, and people who know what they're doing is harder to pull off than it looks. Mint56 makes it look easy.

Dinner only, Monday to Saturday. Book ahead β€” this one fills up.

Our Puffin Rating

🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

5 out of 5 Puffins β€” our highest rating. Hope Store is one of the most feel-good shops in Guernsey. Beautiful ethical homeware and gifts, a story worth knowing, and every purchase doing real good in the world. A must-visit on High Street.

Our review

Some shops sell things. Hope Store sells things that mean something β€” and that difference is felt the moment you walk through the door on High Street.

Run by Hope for a Child, a Guernsey-based charity working to eradicate extreme poverty in rural Malawi, the store stocks a carefully curated collection of ethical homeware, gifts, and artisan products sourced from makers around the world. The shelves are a proper delight β€” hand-woven baskets, ceramics, textiles, and objects that are genuinely beautiful rather than just worthy. This is not a charity shop in the traditional sense; it's a well-edited independent store that happens to do a lot of good.

The story behind the store matters too. It began with a pallet of hand-woven chairs from Malawi arriving at the Hope for a Child offices in 2022 β€” a small experiment that became something far bigger. Today the shop connects artisans from communities across the world with shoppers in Guernsey, creating a direct link between the person who made something and the person who brings it home.

Every purchase does double duty: it supports the maker directly, and profits go back into Hope for a Child's work empowering families living in poverty in rural Malawi. It's one of those rare places where spending money genuinely feels good.

As a shopping destination, it punches well above its size. The range changes regularly, the team are warm and knowledgeable, and it's the kind of place you go in for one thing and leave with three. If you're looking for a gift with a real story behind it β€” or just something beautiful for your home β€” Hope Store is the best place in Guernsey to find it.

Our Puffin Rating

🐦🐦🐦🐦🐦

5 out of 5 Puffins β€” our highest rating. Fukku is the most exciting restaurant to open in Guernsey in years. Michelin Guide listed, award-winning interior, and food that genuinely stands up to anywhere in the UK. An essential visit.

Our review

There are restaurants you go to because you need to eat, and there are restaurants you go to because you want an experience. Fukku is firmly in the second category β€” and it's the kind of place that reminds you why going out for dinner should feel like an occasion.

Housed in a beautifully converted former post office on Smith Street, the space itself stops you in your tracks. The interior won Best Internal Commercial Project of the Year at the 2025 Guernsey Property & Construction Awards β€” and you can see why the moment you walk in. Rather than one uniform dining room, the space is divided into distinct areas: some intimate, some lively, some with a clear sightline to the open kitchen where you can watch the sushi being prepared. Wherever you sit, the energy is warm and buzzy without being overwhelming.

The food matches the ambition of the room. Fukku's menu covers serious ground β€” sushi, sashimi, tempura, robata, ramen β€” and all of it is executed with care. The ingredients are sourced from Japanese merchants alongside local Guernsey producers including the Soil Farm, and that combination of island freshness and Japanese precision comes through on the plate. The selection is broad enough to satisfy a table of people with different tastes, and the kitchen handles all of it consistently well.

The drinks menu is equally considered. Sake pairs recommended by the team, Japanese highball cocktails, and a short but well-chosen wine list β€” this is a place that takes what's in your glass as seriously as what's on your plate. The service has that rare quality of being genuinely enthusiastic without feeling rehearsed. Staff know the menu well and are happy to guide you through it.

For something more immersive, the chef's counter experience β€” where the team curates a meal for you β€” is worth booking specifically. It's Fukku at its best: the craft is on full display, the pacing is relaxed, and you eat things you might not have ordered yourself. Book this seat in advance, it goes quickly.

Fukku is also listed in the Michelin Guide β€” a recognition that puts it in genuinely rare company for a Channel Island restaurant. It has earned it. If you're visiting Guernsey and you only book one restaurant, make it this one.
